Center for Student Involvement (CSI)

Student organizations at Northeastern University are supported by the Center for Student Involvement (CSI). CSI honors the student-driven experience by providing support and resources to inspire and embolden lifelong learners. CSI intentionally develops and educates students through innovative leadership programs, fraternity and sorority life, student organizations, and employment opportunities. In collaboration with partners and stakeholders, CSI encourages and facilitates a broad spectrum of educational and social co-curricular opportunities designed to advocate for and empower Northeastern students.

Clubs and Organizations

There are over 550 recognized student organizations at Northeastern. Clubs and organizations represent a variety of interests including: International & Cultural, Advocacy & Global Impact, Creative & Visual Arts, Northeastern Community Connection; Philanthropic & Community Engagement, Political Action, Religious & Spiritual, Fraternities, Leadership & Governing and more!

Fraternity and Sorority Life

In addition, more than 2,900 students are involved in fraternity/sorority life at Northeastern. We have 35+ different social fraternities and sororities that provide unique opportunities for students to engage in educational, social, philanthropic, and academic endeavors. There are 4 governing councils for fraternity/sorority life that represent the different needs and demographics of the organizations represented in that council.

National Pan-Hellenic Council (NPHC)

  • Umbrella organization for historically Black and African American fraternities and sororities also known as the “Divine Nine”
  • Founded during racial segregation to support, advance, and uplift the Black community

Multicultural Greek Council (MGC)

  • Umbrella organization for Asian interest fraternities and sororities, Latino/a interest fraternities and sororities, and multicultural groups
  • Founded to celebrate cultural heritage or multiculturalism and expand cultural awareness

Panhellenic Council (Panhel)

  • Umbrella organization for social sororities
  • Founded to provide women an experience where they could addresses women’s issues and create a community of support and confidence

Interfraternity Council (IFC)

  • Umbrella organization for social fraternities
  • Founded originally as literary societies and provided the first type of social fraternity to positively impact the development of men

Signature Events

The Center for Student Involvement hosts a variety of signature campus events throughout the academic year. From our Fall Fest involvement fair and Homecoming in the fall to Winter Involvement Fair, Graduate and Professional Student Appreciation Week, and Student Life Awards in the spring, to Summester programming all summer long, there is something for everyone.
