NU Future Leaders (NUFL)

Northeastern University Future Leaders (NUFL) is a faculty and staff affinity group.

Northeastern University Future Leaders aims to provide a space for career-focused professionals who are seeking to develop and strengthen their long-term opportunities and impact across Northeastern’s global campuses. This group offers networking and professional development opportunities and a chance to come together as a Northeastern community across departments and locations. We promote personal and professional growth via community engagement and learning. We also showcase and celebrate the exceptional work being done by Northeastern faculty and staff across the globe.

  • Women Bringing Social Justice – our bi-annual event show casing exceptional women who are part of the Northeastern community working to promote social justice in their communities & more

Mission & Objectives

The group’s mission is to establish a community of faculty and staff across the institution who seek to advance personally and professionally in their careers. Our key focus areas are:

  • Career Advancement: To develop and cultivate tools and skills that aid in the professional growth of the membership and offer relevant mentorship opportunities, with the end goal of preparing members for the next step or phase in their career trajectories.
  • Social Engagement: To raise awareness and promote community building through volunteer drives, community events, social mixers. We aim to connect professionals within Northeastern community.
  • Personal Development: To facilitate the development of robust personal networks and programming for personal growth.

Role at Northeastern: Academic Advisor — College of Engineering Graduate

Kirsten Bilas has been a member of NUFL since 2022 and held the position of Vice Chair of Community before taking on her new role. Prior to joining the Graduate School of Engineering Boston-based Academic Advising Team in October 2022, she has spent almost a decade working at Northeastern University through her combined roles. Prior to joining COE, she was an administrative assistant for the Department of History at the College of Social Sciences and Humanities (CSSH) and the Graduate Academic Coordinator for the Office of Enrollment Management at the Bouve College of Health Sciences.

Terry develops partner relationships to connect the needs of the organization with the skill sets of Northeastern PhD LEADERs students.

Role at Northeastern: Assistant Director, Global Launch Services

Olivia has worked in various roles at Northeastern since 2016. In her current role, she helps manage the intake, discovery and launch process for new initiatives across Northeastern’s Global Campus Network. She earned her master’s degree in digital media this past year at Northeastern and is passionate about digital communications, design, and technology. She enjoys creating graphics, newsletters and web pages to advocate for awesome NUFL programming and events.

Events
  • Monthly NUFL General Body Meetings
    • Please join the NUFL Planning Committee members and general body members on the last Friday of each month from 3:00 to 4:00 PM, for NUFL updates and event planning. All NUFL members are welcome to attend. Meeting links will be send via the newsletter.
  • Bi-Monthly Call-to-Action Meetings
    • Join our Call to Action meetings bi-monthly on the second Friday each month from 2-3pm and on the final Monday of each month from 3-4pm.
